Hi everyone! Happy Friday. I hope this letter finds you cool. I feel like everyone I’ve talked to this week is experiencing a heatwave. Before the temps spiked, I went on that picnic with my friends I mentioned last week. It was fabulous. 10/10.

It reminded me that a casual Saturday picnic is a great idea because…

●      It’s on neutral ground (literally), no pressure to tidy up or cook.

●      While there’s no singular host, everyone brings a few things, which ends up feeling like you’re all cohosting.

●      Touching grass.

●      You can introduce friends to your crafts and hobbies. I brought my paints, which honestly went unused because my friend’s tarot cards were more entertaining. (She did a reading for me, it was wild.)

●      It stays light out until 8pm in the summer, which puts everyone in a good mood.

Okay, that’s my recommendation for the week: Go on a picnic with your friends! A small group is my personal preference. Bank some quality time, and you’ll go home spiritually energized and full before it’s even dark out.

Onto this week’s letter, a good old AMA. If you’re new to Beau Society, this is a series I try to do once a month where I put a question box on BS IG Stories, and you guys can use it to ask me whatever you want. Sometimes there’s a theme, but most of the time it’s just random. I pick a few questions and answer them here.

Inside this issue: A pro tip on auditioning that has changed the way I walk into those super intimidating rooms, the amazing Apple series I just finished, my favorite ice cream flavor of all time (it’s very specific), plus more BS at the end.

Enjoy!

Q: Any tips for when you audition? -Elena

A: I started following this account years ago, let me find it…Actors Career Guide! I’ve saved so many of their clips, and I can’t remember which actor said this in an interview they posted, but it stuck with me. The sentiment is: Everyone in that room wants you to get the job. It’s weird for sure — the white walls, camera on a tripod, and people staring you down — and I've been scared frozen, forgetting lines I practiced for hours. But now, before I go in, I try to keep in mind that these people want me to be good! They want me to get the job! It sets the tone for a lighter, more inviting creative experience. Plus, even if you don't get the part, you've left a good impression, showing that you’re confident and love the craft. That’s always going to benefit you.

Q: Are you vegan? -Tara

A: I'm not vegan. But I did follow a plant-based diet for a few years when I was having a lot of stomach sensitivities. I met with a gastroenterologist and did one of those crazy panels, which showed my body was reactive to so many things I was eating. It’s not that the foods were bad, but I think I was overdoing it. So I went plant-based, and it was wonderful. I actually realized that there are so many meals I eat — and love — that are "vegan" and I wasn’t even conscious of it.

Q: Can you recommend a show or a movie? -Bella

A: I just finished The Studio on Apple. I loved it so much. Funny, quick, easy to binge, Seth Rogen and Kathryn Hahn are awesome. It's a great watch if you’re looking for a show.

Q: What’s the best advice Woody Harrelson gave you? -Anonymous

A: ‘Throw your phone off a cliff’ is something he might’ve advised. I have yet to do that, but I'm sure it would be the best thing ever.

Q: What’s the latest thing you cooked and it was *chef kiss*? -Lara

A: I'm so glad you asked! I have photos! We made cacio e pepe ravioli from scratch. This is the recipe we used. Making pasta is time-consuming, but dare I say, fairly easy. We made bruschetta too. Next up is this Alison Roman chicken and artichoke dinner.

Q: What’s your dream vacation? -Melissa

A: Some places on my vacation list I have yet to check off (work doesn't count): Japan, Italy, and I've heard really great things about the Cayman Islands.

Q: What’s your lip combo? -Arii

A: Makeup Forever’s Wherever Walnut liner with lip balm. That’s my go-to.

Q: What shampoo and conditioner do you use? Like, just your hair routine in general. -Leighton

A: I genuinely use and love the Nexxus Hy-Volume shampoo and conditioner. I let my hair air dry and generally don't use products when I get out of the shower if I don’t plan to style it. Lots of buns lately.

Q: What has been your favorite thing about releasing BS this past year? -Christina

A: Yeppp, this makes me emo. My favorite part has to be this community that we've built. Even though it's growing(!), it still feels so intimate and connected. I'm so grateful for that. Since I launched Beau Society, my weeks are scheduled around these issues, and it's given me so much joy and purpose and connection. I can't wait for year two!!

Q: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? -Paula

A: Handel's Graham Central Station.

Q: Are you nostalgic for old shoots? If so, which ones? -Laura

A: One of my first photo shoots was for the Gap! Another one I love was a campaign I did for Guess Kids. I'm nostalgic about those.

Q: Would you ever consider getting a big dog? -London

A: Definitely. I grew up with big dogs, and I actually never planned on getting tiny dogs, but here we are! Martini and Brando would love a big dog. My brother has a golden retriever (Dwight!), and they spend a lot of time with him and get along great.

Q: Favorite way to decompress? -Sarah

A: I'm on my third Paint like Frida kit. It's the perfect mindless yet stimulating activity. Sometimes I have music on; sometimes I'm painting in silence; sometimes I open up the back door so the breeze comes in. It just feels very therapeutic and relaxing.

TO TAKE: A quiz that tells you if you could have landed a job at Vogue in the ‘90s.

TO MAKE: Artichoke, cucumber, avocado salad.

TO BUY: This rainbow bubble-letter bracelet. Would make a cute gift.

Highlighting your comments on the previous week’s issue. Today, we hear Jacob’s response to Fashion motivation.

“That idea of a seven-year cycle really hit home—funny how subtle shifts can build up until you suddenly realize you don’t quite recognize your own closet anymore. I’ve definitely been feeling that itch too, like I’ve outgrown some of my go-to pieces, even if they technically still ‘work.’ It’s wild how fashion mirrors inner change like that. I’m so here for the fashion reinvention conversation. I think a lot of us are in that in-between space right now, trying to dress for the person we’re becoming, not just the one we’ve been.” -Jacob (Chicago)
