Hi my loves! Happy Friday! I’m feeling extra joyful, not just because I caught a freak 60-degree day in New York City earlier in the week, but because daylight savings gifted us a bonus hour of sunlight and the energy has been so…refreshing! It’s not all ups though. The time change continues to mess with my sleep, I was accidentally up until 1am the other night, and the cross-country flight has left me loopy and further sleep-deprived. So this weekend, I plan to lean into some wellness practices to reset my body.
We’re now 35 days from the Sinners release, which means the end of March into early April will look like: Premieres! New cities! Interviews! Cast reunions! I can’t wait to tell you everything. Maybe I’ll keep a daily diary and share it here? With so much to look forward to, now is the time to pause and take care of myself. We’re very anti-burnout here at Beau Society.
So, here’s my mini spring wellness plan. You can use these tips this weekend or sprinkle them throughout the next month as needed.
1. Delete all social media off my phone — except Pinterest. This weekend (and most weekends, honestly) I’ll do a digital detox, deleting all social media off my phone. But Pinterest stays. What can I say, it’s my vice! Although I don’t think it’s bad (someone let me know). A peek into my recent saves will show you royal-icing cookies in the shape of cowboy boots for a theme party only vaguely in the back of my head and a painting by an artist I discovered (through Pinterest!). I’m not usually looking for anything, but when I close out the app, I’m immediately off to the market because I found a recipe I’m excited to make, or barreling to my closet to try on outfits. It’s activating!
2. Go for a walk or hike. Sometimes it takes someone (or just Martini) convincing me to go on a long walk with them, but I’m always grateful for the push to get outside. A walk or hike is a reliable upper. I’ll talk to whoever I’m walking with. Or if I’m alone, I’ll listen to a podcast (this one!) or music (more on that, below).
3. Do a mini closet cleanout. I’m always cleaning out my closet — keeps me sane! It will never be “done” and I’ve accepted that. I enjoy the never-ending process. Currently, my donation bags are out. They’re being filled with clothes that no longer fit (physically or spiritually) so they can go to someone who can give them a new life. I get a lot out of it.
4. Get a massage or mani/pedi or haircut. My favorite massage in the world is a lymphatic drainage session with Rebecca. But this is a choose-your-own-adventure. If you love a relaxing massage, treat yourself to the hot-stone variety. Paint your nails a fun color (really into this). A haircut can be transformational, especially if you’re itching for a change.
5. Fresh produce haul! Here’s a guide to March produce (thanks, Brightland!). I’ve saved these “happy bowls” and plan to add broccoli, avocado, artichoke…and subtract the cashew sauce because #nutallergy.
6. Nap. Like I said, I’m tired. The vibe is this.
7. Read. I want to sink into (and maybe fall asleep reading) a good book. I’m open to recommendations!
8. Ask a friend to lunch — and linger there. I’m obsessed with a long, meandering lunch. Dinner is great, but sometimes it’s too late and I’m tired and want to be comfy. Lunch, though, I’m always excited about. We can yap, share fries, and catch up on each other’s lives. It’s heavenly and crazy restorative. Fills my cup!
9. Listen to your favorite music. Whatever you want to hear while you walk, clean your closet, or get ready for lunch, blast it. I’ve recently been really into BANKS. Going through her entire album front to back.
10. Watch a movie in the middle of that day. What’s better than a matinee? This weekend, sometime between 1 and 3pm, I’ll make popcorn (throw in M&Ms), get cozy on the couch, and enjoy two-ish hours of film! Now I just need to pick a movie...
11. Paint/draw/write. Whatever your creative mind wants to do, lean in. Lose track of time. Feel inspired. Even if you’re bad at it — first of all, no you’re not — a creative challenge feels good and is always expansive. Greer recently got me into these paint by numbers and we’re both obsessed.
Now let’s get into some additional BS, which includes additional R&R activities to add your weekend...
TO LISTEN TO: This podcast episode on ‘How to handle difficult people and take back your peace and power.’ I know we have some Mel Robbins fans here (same). This episode will reframe how you respond when someone is bugging you (get curious!).
TO WATCH: A friend sent me this TikTok of Shadow. He’s a little shy, bless him!
TO READ: Holy cow, you guys loved our Martini and Brando issue! Thank you so much for sending photos of your dogs; I’m obsessed with them (especially Namora omg). This week, I read this short essay by Anne Helen Peterson that I think you’d like.
TO COOK: How gorgeous are these maple glazed sweet potatoes? Also, this video makes it look easy. Will report back.
TO TAKE WITH YOU: “I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it." -Pablo Picasso

A place where we spotlight BS readers’ accomplishments. Today we hear from (and congratulate) James!
“I just wanted to share a celebration of mine this week. After a series of rejections (four of five), I have been accepted into the School Psychology Master’s Program at the University at Buffalo!! My family is in Wisconsin, and I know nobody in Buffalo, but I felt the urge to apply. Now I [feel] it was meant to be. I am so excited for the opportunity to get one step closer to my dream of being a school psychologist! Very excited and slightly nervous:)” -James (Provo, Utah)
