HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

My advice to those of you who think you’re not a fan of Halloween: Throw a Halloween party! Josh and I never considered ourselves to be big Halloween people. But on Monday night, we hosted a Circus-themed Halloween party — had the best night ever — and now I think we’re into Halloween(?) (Cool, just said Halloween 6 times.)

I love parties and any reason to host, so I leaned into the planning of this one. For a little play-by-play of how this party came together: We started by picking our space. We debated the backyard but the pros of doing it somewhere else won out (not having to clean up). So we picked one of our favorite local spots that was big enough and allowed us to roll in the circus. *Shout out to our friend Caryn who helped us with everything, including the venue, and her wonderful staff who really embraced our theme.* You know I love my Pinterest boards! I don’t even remember where I started with this one and that’s the beauty of falling down the rabbit hole of inspiration. Somewhere in the hours of semi-mindless pinning, I landed on the decor, costumes, bar menu, and theme…which led to games. One takeaway here: Know your guests. Ours are super-fun, competitive people and we felt carnival games fit the theme and guest list to a T. On that note… welcome to the circus!

We were in the sweet spot with timing when planning this party: far enough away from the date to potentially have costumes made special for the occasion. So early on I texted R&M with ringmaster references. They pulled in Marco Marco to create the vision.

Come on in…

At the bar, we had classic cocktails and gave them cute names. Had a few Midnight Acrobats;)

We worked with this incredible local artist who designed our funhouse-inspired entrance and painted the clown art in the lounge area. An amazing drapery expert brought in the big top tent-inspired motif.

We went ‘classic carnival’ with the menu: cotton candy, popcorn, corndogs, french fries, and funnel cake.

Quarter Pitch. It’s a game that requires flipping a quarter onto a moving target. It's damn near impossible.

COSTUME CONTEST — So many creative costumes - it was hard to pick winners!

Sam and Berkleigh, first-place costume winners. It was the unibrow and mustache.

Joe and Javon as White Men Can’t Jump - so good!

Step Brothers, Delaney and Connor. Obsessed.

One of my favorites of the night: Alexis and DaQuan!

KJ as Katt Williams.

Alexus and Curtis as Gwen and Miles. (They didn’t know the connection lol)

Kareem as Hendrix!

Paige and Shane, we are so excited for baby Buechele!!!

XO

Speaking of Halloween costumes, I love seeing yours — keep ‘em coming! Here’s what some of you are dressing up as…Rubi is doing a Purge costume with her friend. Madi is going as Ellie Sattler from Jurassic Park (aka iconic Laura Dern). Zach is Ron Stoppable to his wife’s Kim Possible. Eva is going as a Jigsaw. Angel is dressing up as a devil, ironically. Alexandra is skipping it altogether and seeing a show with her friends (respect).

However you’re celebrating Halloween, I hope you have the best time! For everyone in the states gearing up for the election, I’m wishing you a calm and restful rest of your week. Talk soon!

Love,

 Hailee (Beau)
